Message from the Principal

Education is essential, not only for the public in general but also for Christians. In Cambodia enormous opportunities exist for Christians to participate in education. Through Christian educational institutions many lives of young people are shaped and transformed. We always praise God for his grace, especially for opening Cambodia to the Gospel, to allow it to penetrate to the heart and mind of many Cambodians. This has occurred in many ways, but one key way has been through educational institutions like Phnom Penh Bible School (PPBS). PPBS’s goal has been to train up servant leaders for the Cambodian church who will help fulfil his Great Commission (Mat. 28:18-20). Education is a fundamental aspect of church life.

In the Old Testament, the purpose of teaching was that Israel might learn to obey God’s law so that their distinctive position as the people of God would be evident and God would be glorified. The book of Deuteronomy, for example, repeatedly makes this point. In Deuteronomy 4:5-10, Moses proclaims the importance of discipleship, teaching people to obey. Here Moses was concerned that the generations to follow would be taught what he was teaching to the people; this communication involved memory and observance. However, to teach and share knowledge was not enough; the people had to “follow them” (vv.1, 5, 13-14) and “observe them carefully” (v.6), which means that active obedience was essential to the teaching of the words of God.

PPBS seeks to faithfully teach the Word of God. We want students to not just learn about God’s Word but to actively grow in obedience to God’s Word. Through the ministry of teaching and preaching of His Word, and with a strong desire for obedience to God’s call, we long to see our graduates serve and bless local Cambodian churches and beyond. Therefore, if you feel God’s calling, come to learn and share with us, send future leaders to be equipped and prepared through PPBS. We are thankful for your partnership in the Gospel for the sake of God’s kingdom.
